The earwax is located in the posterior area of the eardrum (TM).
The wax is covering 40% of the eardrum (TM).
After
After we using the micro-suction technique.
The wax was removed and the eardrum (TM) visible and appears intact.
Pars flaccida, Handle of malleus, Umbo and Cone of light are clearly shown under the endoscopic camera.
Removal of Foreign body
Before
Endoscopic removal of a foreign body in the ear using the endoscope and ENT crocodile forceps.
The foreign body was a dislodged hearing aid dome, as you can see from the recording.
Another common foreign body is cotton bud tips.
After
After we removed the foreign body, we can see clearly the eardrum (Tympanic Membrane) and its structure, including Pars flaccida, Handle of malleus, Umbo and Cone of light.
Anatomy of Eardrum (Tympanic Membrane)
The tympanic membrane (eardrum, syringa) is a thin, semitransparent, oval membrane, approximately 1 cm in diameter, that separates the external acoustic meatus from the tympanic cavity.
It is positioned at the lateral end of the external acoustic meatus and it is tilted medially from posteriorly to anteriorly and superiorly to inferiorly. Therefore, the lateral surface of the tympanic membrane faces anteriorly and inferiorly.
